To all Onkyo TX-SR805 owners -

How does the receiver sound? I like the unit's capabilities (HDMI switching, video upconversion, speaker calibration) but in the end, how is the sound quality? I'm looking for something that has great switching capability AND sounds great...

It might not be reference quality sound, but it sounds pretty darn good to me, and that's coming from a Denon 4802. Its got plenty of guts, its pretty neutral sounding (not warm or bright), and its got a great feature set. As long as you don't care about internet/network connectivity, it pretty much has everything you need in a modern receiver.

Does it sound as good as the equivalent Denon (3808)? I can't say for sure since I didn't bother to compare them, but I doubt the Denon sound is worth double the price.
See profile for rigs. Nothing else here.

I love the sound with movies. And the features are AWESOME! The sound with music throught my polk rti8s is alittle to high almost crackling sounding at louder volumes. Im trying to figure out how to adjust that...
I was wondering if setting the speakers to full bandwith or on a specific hz setting will make a difference in sound? I dont really know much about that. I dont know much about the settings. Im learning!!

I'm currently away in college, so I am not able to do anything with my system right now (it's at home).

The 805 kicks butt. I really like the xover with 10Hz stepping variable by speaker.
