OK here is the situation, I am using RTA-12c's for mains, the surrounds will soon be Monitor 7c's and the current CC is an 'Infinity Sterling'. The question how would a modern Polk Audio CSi3 play with the vintage speakers? They are $99 on Amazon right now and that sounds like a bargain. The other option was to wait and find another set of Monitor7c's and look into making it video shielded and using one as a CC. Any thoughts? Anyone using a 'vintage speaker' as a CC?
Thanks,
Abel

I have not done it, but the Monitor 7 for a center seems like the best solution IMHO, since the tweeters and Mid woofs will be the same (assuming SL-2000 or RD-0194). Someone needs to score a pr and sell the other in the FM. Also, you only need to shield if you are using a CRT. No need near plasma, LCD, etc.

I am also using my RTA-12C's for HT fronts presently with a B&W CC (600 series 2 I think), and I've decided that the B&W center is not for me, sound-wise.

No need to use a shielded speaker if you place it on top of a CRT. I've used a Monitor 4 and an S8 for a center with no problems.
