Questions about Lsifx
Hello, I just bought some Lsifx off of e-bay and they arrived today. I unwrapped them and they had no Sticker on the back with serial #,Model#, or right/left. They came supposedly factory sealed. I hooked them up what I thought was right and left. They sound good but I have some concern.
1.) No model or serial number.
2.)1 midrange on each speaker seems to be louder and clearer than the other. This is the same with both speakers. I don't know maybe this is how they are suppose to operate. I have them set to small and I am playing them in the sorround position but plan to use them as my rears. As far as bipole or dipole I have tried switching them but don't realy notice a difference. If someone has these speakers and could share their experience I would appretiate it. Also I need to know which is right and which is left?
Thank you.

No serial number sticker leads me to believe that they were sold by an unauthorized Polk seller and no factory warranty exists. (Think Gray market.) You paid less than normal retail, but have less service for that sale price. Polk will always service a customer with parts, just not under factory warranty terms when sold like this. The seller usually warrants them personally when asked.
The LSi line uses a crossover that has each midwoofer operating at different frequencies, so that they don't interfere with each other producing identical sounds. I'm not sure whether the FX has a similar crossover, but there are alot of posts on this forum with concerns about the LSiC center model having stronger bass on one side than the other.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

Thanks Dennis. Makes sense. I will be returning these today and buying from someone with warranty. I still do need advise on the best placement though for rears. Thanks for the help.

The LSi/FX does have a cascade tapered array, so no worries about the difference in midrange drivers:

They are also dipole/bipole switchable. This will affect your placement options:

Hockeyboy. Funny you should recommend him. I just purchased a set from him today. They are $699. The story on him is all of the existing stock he currently has is warrantied by Polk. But they will no longer have him as an authorized dealer after that is gone. I spoke with him and he is very helpfull.
