New (old) speakers Monitor 7?

So a few months ago a CL deal for Monitor 10's fell through (seller backed out) and I was crushed only to find a pair of RTA 12'c just a few weeks later. I listened to them for about a minute before I said 'SOLD'! The RTA are my first Polks, they set me back $150, a bargain at twice that price I smile each time I listen to them. Fast forward to last week, I found some Monitor 7's for $50 on CL, I talked to the seller and asked 'what's wrong with them' he said they sound great the fabric on the grills is rough but they sound perfect. Well they are not as easy on the eyes as the RTA's but they sound so very nice. So now I have a couple of hundred pounds of Polks! I have a few questions, how do I determine which 7 series they are? The sticker on the back says only 'Monitor Series 7', they have the same Tweeter that my RTA's have with the words 'Polk Audio silver coil dome' and no fuses on the back side. The serial numbers are not sequential so I looked inside and the crossovers have stickers from Nov 86 on one and Jan 87 on the other. I'll attach a few pictures if that helps ID them. I spent a good hour with diluted windex and q-tips getting the mid and the PR cleaned up and now they look almost as good as they sound. I'll attach a few small pictures but this link is to my Picassa gallery with bigger pictures if that helps:

Welcome and nice grabs. If you use some windex on the rubber surrounds you can get rid of the brown color and make them nice and black like the cones. Go gently and be paitent.
ScottI like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D -
Off the top of my head... 7C.

Nice finds!!!
I've got RTA12C's as well & just love them.
Do a search on here for them and you'll learn loads.

IMO, Monitor 7's sound better than the 10's.
Yours look exactly like my 7C's, they both have the SL1000 tweeter but I have a fuse above the binding posts."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
They look identical to the 7Cs that I have, and crossover dates sound very close.

Yup, the Cs went through a few steps of evolution. -
Mine don't have an external fuse either. They have a poly-fuse on the crossover that automatically resets itself.

Don't know if these were 'good' back in the day but, I saw some Monitor 4's at the fleamarket today. They were in the 'awaiting inspection' section of the booth, so I don't know if they were for sale of not. Couldn't get the grill off to see what the drivers were.
Any thoughts?I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
For the right price great little bookshelf. I have a pair and would recommend without hesitation. Flea marget pricing should be cheap also ($20-30??). Grab them if anywhere near that $.

Sweet! What are the drivers, and wpc rating? Just curious. ThanksI refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
