Cambridge Audio 540D as a CDP?

I'm looking for anyone on here that has used a Cambridge Audio 540D as a CDP/DVDP? I am particularly interested in the quality of CD playback, as I already have a dedicated DVDP.

The reason I am interested in this unit is because it has a RGB/SCART output that barely any other DVDP's have. This would be used to feed my projector which takes RGB. That way I can use it as a secondary DVDP and a CDP for 2-channel listening.

    I currently have the 540D v1 in use, and the 540D v2 waiting to be put into my system. The 540D v1 sounded very similar to my 640 v1 cdp, although the DAC seemed to be a little smoother on the high's. Not quite as analytical as the 640 v1. As for DVD's, I had a chance to compare it directly to the Denon 3910 and the pq was as good or better. I'm hoping I am as happy with the v2.

    Thanks, when you say the PQ was as good or better than the Denon 3910, is that with regards to the detail? Black level? Color?

    Just wondering, even though I intend to use a 540D as a CDP...

    with regard to PQ, all of the above mentioned. That was on a Sony 34" CRT.

    There is a new 640D being released soon.
    Its not on their website yet but download their new 07/08 cat and you will see it in there.
    They have a few new models comming like a new 200wpc power/pre amp and turntable.:rolleyes:
