If you want to be more future-proof, get a mobo that does DDR3 RAM natively. I jumped right over DDR2 when I upgraded at Xmas.

I have that exact same MOBO, the Q6600, and a comparable, 610watt PSU. I also have two 250GB HD's. However, you did jump me a bit on the graphics card. :(

To be perfectly honest, I see NO reason to even THINK about DDR3 as a future upgrade. Either you need it now or you don't. If you're a hardcore gamer and you don't actually buy the ram now, then by the time you're willing to pay for it, you'll want to rebuild your computer anyways. If you're not a hardcore gamer, then DDR2 will serve you well so long that this computer will be junk before you'll think about going to DDR3.

    Anyhoo, my two cents. :)

Watch it, lower the shader model or it'll hang up. I can run Med. settings but anything past that and I get like 10 FPS

I would doublecheck your PSU for being certified for SLI for that particular card. I have not checked that mfr's web site but evga's web site has a matrix for power supply vs card model for sli configs. There isn't a single one at 600w rated for dual 8800 series cards at evga. Just a thought, may need to beef it up just a bit. Other than that, let the fraggin begin!

Will do. Decided that one card is enough for now. I really thought about it, and I realistically would just overhaul the system again rather than buy another graphics card.

Cool beans, then I guess I'll see you on the battlefield! Once the next patch from Epic is released I'll have my own UT3 server up and running again. The new patch is supposed have a web admin page for administrators, unlike now with constant command line generating. Keep an eye out for it, usually CTF or VCTF, AEXSERVER is the server name prefix. Hopefully by this summer we will have our Excessive Overkill mod loaded and running too.

    Alright, here is the lineup...

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard
    OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

    Antec 900 Case.

    Totals just over $960.

Already have plenty of fans, HDDs.

Anything that I should be talked out of?

You could save 100 bucks and get the E8400 Intel processor.

Just built my system with it and an EVGA 780i board. It's rated at 3Ghz stock, and I have it stable to 3.7ghz. I also have 2 of the video cards you bought (the new 8800GTS cards). You're gonna love it. I provides a much better cooling solution than the 8800GT's, and the performance is a bit better as well. I'm over 17,000 on my 3d Mark '06 scores, with more to come when I reach 4Ghz OC.

It's funny, stay away from ****, file sharing and WAREZ types of files /applications and you would be amazed how few viruses are truely out there. Then again, why even have a computer :D

I have used my couple of servers for years ( driver/application file downloading ...internet usage ( No **** ) ...etc ) and never even have seen a virus in the wild, much less get one.

Now the pc used for file sharing and the occasional booby watch has seen a couple ;)
