Cambridge Audio 540R 6.1 Receiver - 9/10 - Silver - *SOLD*

I picked this up for an install at a friends house but we went a different route with seperates. It's got VERY low hours(8.5) and is the v2.0 version, which includes some nice upgrades like On Screen Display(OSD), more power and newer Crystal DAC's.

It has everything but HDMI, just check out the link. You can't get any simpler than this AVR....it's Grandparent friendly, as in easy to setup and use. It has one VERY small scratch near a top screw, from when I took pictures of the guts....which I will post later. I think my only gripe with the unit is that the volume knob should be a solid piece of aluminum and not stamped. It has a wobble to it although this only noticeable from directly above it and it has no effect on the operation.

The unit has all the HT capability that you need at this time and if you're looking for an upgrade from the POS your parents gave you for graduation or for a modern replacement for an older 6.1 unit....this is it. The power ratings are solid and based in reality.

Here's some specifications:

Powerful 100 watts per channel across two channels or 80 watts per channel in 6.1 mode

FM/MW tuner with 40 presets and RDS functionality

Decoder capable of processing:
– Dolby Digital 5.1
– DTS 5.1
– Dolby Digital EX 6.1
– DTS ES 6.1
– Dolby Pro Logic
– Dolby Pro Logic II

Crystal CS493263 DSP and CS42518 24-bit/192 kHz multi DAC

Comprehensive array of analogue and assignable digital inputs and outputs:
– Component, S-Video and composite connections
– Electrical and optical digital inputs and outputs
– 6.1 inputs and outputs
– Six line level inputs with a tape monitor

On Screen Display
Control Bus In and Out
RS232C port for software updating
Improved 6-channel volume control encoder
Discrete IR codes for input changing now supported
Solid aluminum front panel with acoustically damped chassis and all-metal casework
All new navigator style Azur remote control

All connections have been cleaned with CAIG products and it's packed to withstand an atomic blast.

Includes: Original packaging, remote control, antenna and a hi-res reproduction user manual(English only).[/b]

Carver TFM-15 Amplifier - 9/10 - Grey - *SOLD*

The inside is immaculate, modern toroid transformer filled and completely dust free and shiny. It looks brand new with no chassis wear or rubs and it's from 1991 folks.

It's 100% functional, 100wpc @ 8ohm/ 140wpc @ 4ohm and does have my favorite feature on an amp....VU meters. I love watching needles dance so I guess I have a soft spot after all. The rear-end features A&B speaker binders for two pairs of loudspeakers.

It also has front panel level controls for both L & R speakers and adjustable VU meter sensitivity. The TFM series is 5+ years newer than any M series Carver amplifier.

All connections have been cleaned with CAIG products and it's packed to withstand an atomic blast.

Includes: User Manual.

NAD T550 DVD/CD Player - 7/10 - Grey - *SOLD* to Agfrost

This has been a solid performer at my parents house for the last five years. I bought it new and gave it to them, hoping it would start motivating them to watch movies. It did but they ended up watching them in another room....go figure.

I had to rate it a 7/10 because of a blemish on the front faceplate. It looks like tape residue but I'm reluctant to remove it since it's close to some lettering. This is also reflected in the price. Other than that it's in excellent shape and would be a great DVD/CD player for a spare room or childrens rig.

Don't you think it's about time to go high-fidelity in the baby's room? I do.

It has Composite, S-Video and Component video output. Audio outputs include Toslink, Digital RCA and 5.1 multi-channel. It supports Dolby Digital and DTS for surround sound.

NAD T550 review

All connections have been cleaned with CAIG products and it's packed to withstand an atomic blast.

Includes: Original user manual and original remote control.

Cambridge Audio A640C CD Player v2.0 - 9/10 - Black - *SOLD* to Bill Ayotte

2006 Award Winning CDP with a bunch of happy Club Polk owners or previous owners. I had it on my computer rig but have only used it 2-3 times since everything I run is actually ON the computer....it was an impulse purchase. The ones listed on Audiogon are v1.0...don't be fooled, that's why they are getting rid of them.

It's the v2.0 which has multiple upgrades over the previous model. Including:

2 x Wolfson WM8740 24-bit/192kHz DACs in dual differential configuration for improved stereo performance
Toroidal transformer for lower noise and less waveform distortion
Upgraded audio filter and regulator stage
Separate power supply
Custom Cambridge Audio servo solution
Extremely low jitter
Coaxial and optical digital outputs
Control Bus input and output for seamless multi-room integration
Low resonance, acoustically damped chassis improves sonic performance
Dimmable LCD
Slim-line navigator style Azur remote control
Stylish all-metal casework with a solid aluminium front panel

Frequency Response: 10Hz to 20KHz +/- 1dB
THD: 0.002%
D/A Conversion: 24-bit/192kHz x 2-dual
Dynamic Range: > 100dB
Channel Separation: > 90dB
Correlated Jitter: < 260ps
Digital Outputs: Optical and Coaxial
Max. Power Consumption: 17 Watts
Dimensions (W x D x H): 430 x 310 x 70mm
16.9 x 12.2 x 2.8"

CA A640C Reviews and Awards

All connections have been cleaned with CAIG products and it's packed to withstand an atomic blast.

Includes: Original box, packaging, aluminum remote control, power cable & owners manual.

Cambridge Audio 640A Integrated Amplifier v2.0 - 9/10 - Black - *SOLD* to Chicomoralessxm

I've owned one of these before and it couldn't go out more highly recommended. This is less than a year old with very light use in a secondary system. It's sonically very much like NAD and the build quality is top notch. The v2.0 has been massaged inside and out over the earlier version including a larger toroid transformer, bigger heatsinks and a better overall circuit design.

Here's some specifications:

75 watts per channel (8 Ohms)
Improved pre-amp and power amp circuitry
100 watts per channel (4 Ohms)
CAP5™ protection system with no sound quality degrading active circuitry added into the signal path
Incognito Ready(TM) (Type 1) A-Bus multi-room outputs
Control Bus In and Out
IR emitter in
Improved volume, tone and balance controls
New custom designed 3-way terminals
Solid aluminium front panel with acoustically damped chassis and all metal casework
All new navigator style Azur remote control

All connections have been cleaned with CAIG products and it's packed to withstand an atomic blast.

Includes: Original everything.

Pronto TSU3000 Remote Control - Gray - 9/10 - *FREE* to Avguyintx

This is an excellent remote control and it has had the un-official Pronto tweak/fix performed on it. The units are known for having some display issues and it stems from a design flaw, that luckily, a handful of smart folks found a method to repair.

I bought the remote used and it died about 2 weeks later. Much like another Pronto experience I've had but that's another story that ends well. Anyways, I found the fix on the Pronto user forum and while I didn't believe it, it worked. The problem area is the circuit path(4 runs) from the display, near the 180(deg) turn to the PCB. The lamination is failing and causing the contact layers to separate. You use a tool to punch "holes" in these paths in order to "bend" or force the path into connecting again. It works....or worked for me at least.

The remote control is 100% functional and my $75 investment and subsequent experiment is your gain for FREE. No cost, just get it out of my house. I just wanted to know if it could be done.

It's crazy user programmable and everything can be done on the computer then downloaded to the unit. I wouldn't call the interface as simple as the Harmony remote but it's equally capable and more thorough. It's a monocromatic display not color.

The link is to the current TSU3500 which is very similar. It isn't listed in the Philips archive for some reason. This is sometimes refered to as the Pronto NG now, from what I gather on the user forum.

Includes: Remote control, user manual(s), charging base & battery.

Information:
3.8" High contrast LCD touchscreen
16bit Greyscale
4 MB memory
Infrared & Radio-Frequent(RF) control
USB

The T550 is an outstanding player - the 5.1 analog outputs work great (built in DD/DTS processors), as does the digital outputs (I've used both extensively in different configs).

My T550 has performed outstanding and anchored my HT rig for the past 3-4 years or so, the price is a gimmie, nothing to think about here.

I thought the TFM-15 and 15CB were both 100wpc. Nice amp as I'm wanting a TFM to match some other stuff but I'm wanting a 45 or 55 for the SRS II's. :D Mo' power!

    Thanks for the heads-up.

The TFM-15 is 100wpc@8ohm and 140wpc@4ohm. I updated the information in order to be accurate. I went off what I found on the internet initially and used an older Orion book to find the eventual answer.

I wonder if that Pronto would run a Carver CT-17. That's one thing I'd like to have for that preamp as I don't have the original remote. Maybe it will work the TL-3300 CD player, too.

Oh, and I'm still pondering on that TFM-15. I just can't make up my mind if I want to hold out for a bigger one or not. Hard choice as that one you're selling looks so good. Dammit...

I think they would fit nicely in the same box :) It's got enough power for most things you'll run across and just the fact it comes with the original manual is kinda cool.

I'm the second owner and it was bought in 1991 w/ a 7 year warranty extension from the store.

I've got 200wpc on my SRS II's now (M-1.0t) and at times, I wish I had more power on them. I could put the 1.0t in my office on the other stuff (currently Heresy's) which would be more than enough power. Although, the TFM-15 would run them as well as anything since they are efficient. But, that Mac 1900 (55wpc) sounds darn good on them too. I hate this hobby sometimes....
