I do not know what it is, but I simply could not get enough of polk! Wanna talk about countless hours on this fourm, check this out! Well, I was on a search for polk and all things interesting in this forum and found out so much more. I am truly impressed, this place is like no others, to date!

This is truly a large community with users going way way back. Where else could one go and actually start a thread, whether the intent is good or bad, and actually get a response from the guys way up, ahem (Mr Polk and Mr DiComo.)

As you all can certainly tell, I read a lot! Its great exercise for the brain, and damn, I feel so left out after venturing throughout all these threads! So, I dedicate this to all the new polkies and perhaps take all the old timers down memory lane. Here is one thread among the countless many I found interesting. For all the new Lsi owners with your steal of a price, you may find this interesting as well. here is the link to the thread:

http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=966

NOTICE THE NAMES INVOLVED IN THIS THREAD DATING BACK TO 2001. WE NEED A POLKFEST AGAIN IN THIS TEXAS AREA, I NEED TO MEET THESE BRILLIANT MINDS.

I haven't ruled out a third and final (at my abode) TPF. We've got a lot more local members speaking up and out, and participating these days - it could be a LOT of fun - and the 'Polk' presence would be solid - Def Paul owes me anyway.

I'm in, but I would prefer to sleep in my own bed this time.

Just leave the hotdogs and pets alone, and you've got a deal. I'll even throw in your own straight jacket.

-dorokusai, I have hookups with the W hotel, aka, upper end westin(right in front of the american airline stadium, the Mavs) with the Ghost Bar on the upmost highest floor! I think!!! hahaha.. Its on me, just take me to chesapeake bay for live seafood!!!

-Russman, anytime, anyday! Hell, you are up in Mckinney right? 75 north of me, I could throw a rock and hit your place!(with superman arms) Or we could just chill sometimes.. compare and talk audio and what not. I am IN!

I'd be in on this. I've been considering doing another Polkfest down here in Houston, now that the idea has taken off a bit and more of a presence of members might happen.

Can't believe it's been 5 years or so since the first one in Austin Russman? I promise, no goth clubs and more music this time. ;)

    TPF III would be cool.

I want to do one more CPF here in Charleston and REALLY blow the doors off it before I hang it up.

This statement by Polk Paul should be posted for every newbie that wonders if their mid level receiver will drive their LSI's!

"Gee, so many questions...so little time.

Let's see if I remember the issues:
The side driver on the LSi15 is an not a passive radiator, it is an "active" 8" woofer but not self powered. The driver on the LSi25 is a 10" powered woofer. I made an oops or two on the specs that I'll fix in a moment. Alzheimers kickin' in again....

The drop in efficiency and impedance are inter-related. Let's start at the top - speaker design is largely a matter of balancing trade-offs. You trade off efficiency for flatter response. As this models are aimed at serious audio hobbiest customers, we thought it reasonable to trade off efficiency and impedance for flatter response and other audible benefits. Yes, you need a better amp to drive these puppies, so if you have mid-level electronics, LSi is not for you.

Circuit City will not carry LSi. We will have an LSi-specific dealer list within a couple of weeks. If you'd like to see your local specialist dealer carry LSi, ask them for it. Dealers respond to consumer demand."
