I have an Sony XBR4 46" and was wondering if I use the HDMI OUT on the TV to my 5.1 Receiver can I still hook up my DVR strait to the tv through th HDMI Input so that I can use the speakers on the TV when watching and babies are in bed or in the internal speakers bipassed when you use the hdmi out?? I figured that I can run a fiber optic to the receiver to get the surround sound when I want.

Also If I get a 7.1 receiver can I run the front four channels to my RTI8's or with this miess up the 7.1 processing?

Thanks!! I am new to the Home Game.

Check your TV manual under the sound or connections sections.
