Polk Audio Surrounds

I just recently purchased RTi8's and CSi3. Looking for some decent surrounds for a 5.1 setup. I have seen posts that most folks are recommending FXi mount speakers. I prefer not to mount any speakers and so I am looking for some decent floor stands. I know that typically you want to match the timbers and stay in the same line. However, since the back surrounds are not as important as the fronts is it possible to just go with R50's (frys.com has some pretty good price) to save some money to use elsewhere? Or even satellites for that matter.

I just want to know if people every considered this. I guess there are some bookshelf speakers (RTi A1) that I can look for as well, but that would mean buying some heavy duty floor stands to hold them. NOTE: To complete my system I have a Velodyne sub with Onkyo 605. Thanks.

You can certainly do that but is there an issue with wall mounting a bookshelf speaker? The RTiA1 is 12lbs, Monitor 30 - 9lbs and the smaller M10 is 7.5lbs.....all of which are easily mounted with a single wood screw.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Thanks, Dorokusai. No, I was actually avoiding to do any wall mounting. As I mentioned I prefer to use floor stands.

So, what I am hearing is the R50s would be okay for surrounds?

Believe it or not there are some who do not care for the FX surround speakers. I will be sticking with tradition floor stands for my 7.1.

rainman31 ... what stands (model) are you using? I really don't like to wall mount anything and so this might another option? And where did you get them? thanks. i have also been thinking about the RTi A1 since they are much lighter.

I got them at circuit city they were $49.99 a pair they are great and big enough to hold the FXI 5's. I will look later to see if I can find the name of them.
