I decided to be cheap and buy a cd5000 Eclipse instead of eclipse's newest version head unit. I would like to get the optional mic that goes with it but cant find one. Does anyone know where to locate one without having to contact the company?

I bought a CD7100 and it doesn't have it either. Is there a model number for it? Maybe ebay?

Just found out, it's MEI-100 pro, and every place seems to be out of stock.

I have a cd5000 also and its a great deck. Good luck with it. As far as the mic goes i wouldn't worry about it, just go by ear. I used the mic on my pioneer 880prs once and ended up adjusting everything manually anyway.
    Big thanks to "Neskahi" !

The microphone on the Eclipse units are actually pretty helpful. They allow you to see the frequency response inside your vehicle, and can show you problem areas. It's pretty easy to adjust the PEQ on your computer and then upload the settings on you HU. I did not like the auto EQ on the Eclipse web site, or the auto EQ on my Pioneer HU. In both cases it boosted frequencies way too much. In my case I had a couple of peaks which the PEQ helped smooth out.
