RTi10 or Monitor 70s with my Onkyo
I have a pair of RTi10s and Monitor 70s, both under 30 day trial. The Monitor trial expires today, so I have to choose which to keep. I'm only using an Onkyo 505 receiver, and am probably not going to be able to afford anything better for a while. The RTi10s sound pretty muddy paired with the Onkyo -- sluggish. The 70s don't sound like they're trying too hard and are much more open and spacious.
I got them both for a steal -- Rti10s for $400 (pair) and 70s for $540 (pair). But I can't keep both.
From reading here, it sounds like the RTi10s are a much better speaker, but they sure don't sound it with this setup. Anything I can do to get better sound from them with this receiver? Or should I just cry and send them back?
I'm using for home theater and music. I have a JBL Northridge EC35 as the center for now and a pair of satellites from Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble II as my surrounds (yeah, I know ... it's all I have at the moment). I do have a great sub, though -- HSU STF-2.
Thanks
