Monitor 4a question

Hello all,
I have a pair of monitor 4a's that I bought new in 1984. They still sound great! Can anyone compare the 4a to other monitor 4's? The tweeter is different, and apparently they were slightly more expensive than other monitor 4's. Any info will be greatly appreciated!

The 4a's should have the Peerless tweeter, an excellent tweeter. I have these tweeters on my 7's and center channel. I also own the 4's. The 4's have the sl1500 tweeter, which is an eclellent tweeter also, but the Peerless is smoother. Has a flatter responce to 22khz.
Both are great bookshelf speakers. The mw6502 drivers are excellent midbass drivers. I believe the same mw6502 driver was used in the 4a's and 4's. I wish Polk would have kept those drivers in todays speakers.Monitor 7b's front

You have a great pair of speaker James! The peerless tweeter is a hot item in classic Polks. I'm glad you like you.

I just picked up a pair of minty 4a's for $40. Did I get a good deal?
I actually haven't hooked them up yet, as I am waiting on some components from the FM, but I thought for $40 I couldn't go wrong. They are cosmetically perfect. Thanks!"Don't forget to change your politician. They are like diapers they need to be changed regularly, and for the same reason."
