I own the RTi8's (bought just yesterday actually), now I'm looking to upgrade my receiver, is the Onkyo TX-SR805 a good bet? I can get it for about $750 Cdn.

Thanks.

Ebay's the only place I could find it for that cheap. That's why I'm reluctant to actually get it, the seller is very good (99% positive with over 7600 points) but I think buying it there will void the warranty.

    the 805 is 799.93 at 6ave.com
I found it on vanns.com for 699 plus free shipping though.
You might of got it confused with Onkyo DVHD805 HD DVD Player for 696

No, it was a one day sale. He was right.

FYI Amazon is at $700 with shipping and an authorized dealer. AV wholesale gets you it for $670 shipped.

there is the HK in the FM which is a killer deal and will blow that AVR away..I think it's the 635...

I don't see it blowing the 805 away: no HDMI, less power, less peak current, lighter, unable to handle the current gen of video and audio, etc... It is cheaper though...

Well, that and I have always dislike HK looks and sound with Polk speakers.

I saw that but amazon.com doesn't ship to Canada (for Polk products and the like at least). The only place I could find for under $1200 is ebay and I'm having some troubles figuring out how much the import duty will be on my shipment.

See I love the HK looks and sound with my polks..well not to mention that the sound may also be affected by my marantz amps...

for the asking price is why I was saying it will blow it away, he could then buy external amps with the xtra $$

I have the 805 for 2 weeks and I'm still breaking it in. So far, I like it but still working out the kinks in the Audessey program in use with the RTi8s.

For the price it is a decent deal. I could get the Oink 605 for the same $$$ delivered and have all the new formats as well, but then you would want the amp's for any sizable speaker.

The main thing I dont like about the HK is that it is outdated. It doesnt have the HD features that the onks have.

I just checked their shipping policies at www.accessories4less.com and they do ship to Canada. Granted the 805 ($679.99) is a refurb but it was done by Onkyo and they are an authorized dealer so the warranty will be good.

Yes but they won't ship Onkyo products to canada. If you go on the Onkyo TX-SR805 description page, in big bold red letters it says "*Sold exclusively within the US only. No shipments allowed outside the US!". Thanks anyways though.

Hello - I have the combination of ONK805 and RTi8's. I also have Csi3 center and Rti4's in the back. Does anyone here bi-amp the 805 to the Rti8's? Without starting a huge debate on whether passive bi-amping is worthless or not, I thought I'd throw it out to you guys and hear your thoughts.

Try it and find out for yourself...

And I do count myself as one of those that thinks passive bi-amping is worthless
