That is why I drive slower cars, and sold my bike. I would love to do that all the time. The fastest I have ever been in a car was 170(bike 165), and passing cars that are doing 70 is like passing a parked car at 100. Kinda scary, tires, deer, dog, bird:eek: All can spell death for you, and others;)
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

    1200hp? Wow! That's crazy fast!

IMO you only need 70hp or so to go the speed limit, so 1200hp is WAY overkill:eek:

In the last Car and Driver article had a shootout testing 0-200-0 times. It included a Saleen S7TT, Heffner Lamborghini Gallardo 850TT, Venom 1000TT Dodge Viper, Lingenfelter Z06 TT, and a Heffner Ford GT1000TT. The slowest 0-200 time was 38.2 seconds, the fastest was 18.9 seconds.

Quite amazing machines, if you ask me.

Here's a link to the article.

See, I'm going to sound like a jerk but 1200 isn't impressive to me. It's alot of power but if all they can muster is a 9.6 second 1/4 mile with 1200 horses, that's weak. I've put together supercharged Mustangs with 5.0L engines making 1800 horses and run low 8 second 1/4 miles at 160+ MPH. With AWD, I think that car should be able to run through a 1/4 mile faster than that.

Oh and once I get the web pages done, got a yellow Mustang with 430 cubic inch small block V8 (that's roughly 7 liters) with twin Garrett turbos that's putting out over 3,000 brake horsepower. That car will do 200+ MPH in a 1/4 mile and get through it in about 6.9 seconds.

Maybe it's just exposure but a 1200 horsepower Nissan just don't impress me anymore and driving like that on public roads is just stupid and way dangerous.

It's track time reminds me of how Supra's do at the strip. 800 HP and run 12's @ 135. :D

Well Supras are pigs. They tip the scales somewhere north of 3800 pounds in most cases, don't they? On top of that they make 800 horses but only put out like 500 pound feet of torque AND the power peak is way up in the RPM range so they drive like grandma off the line but then they hit power band at a point where they can put the power down without grenading the drivetrain and run like a scalded dog. But when you are going up against a Fox chassied Mustang or 4th generation F-body with 500 easy ponies, cutting 1.7 to 1.8 60 foots or lower and running high 9's on drag radials, you just aren't going to catch him no matter how fast you are in the big end.

If that car has 1200 horses and AWD drive and only runs 9.6 second 1/4 miles either it's a big fat pig too or the guy can't drive and thinks it's cool to spin all 4 wheels through the 1/8th mile. I'd really like to see the mile an hour it runs.

The opposite end of the spectrum are things like my truck that have crazy power (rated is 380 horses, dynos have shown actual power to be north of 450) but a big pig (tips the scales at 4600+ pounds) and has no traction but will click off a 13.5 second 1/4 mile at 110-120 MPH. Put that in a Mustang or an F-body and you have a car capable of high 11 second 1/4 miles off the showroom floor with 0-60 times in the 3 second range and top speeds beyond 175 MPH.

Hell, the Ford GT has a rated 550 horses (closer to 750 really) and managed to average 213 MPH at Nardo with a top speed of 223 MPH I think it was? Anyway, the point is, power is nothing if you can't/aren't using it.

That's correct. I believe part of the reason the Skyline has lackluster 1/4 times is that the drivetrain would fall to pieces with sticky tires and a good launch.

    I managed a 11.6 @ 114 with a 1.54 60' and with only 320ish rwhp in my C5. And a 11.01 @ 121 with a 1.51 60' with 397 rwhp for the same reason, it's all in the launch. ;)

I'd still be happy camper driving a 1200hp Skyline around town. Definately put all the silly civics in there place around here, even the turbo ones.

You guys are right though, I can just see that AWD drivetain blowing to bits if that car had 4 slicks on it and got a good hook on the launch.
