    The arrow would "point" AWAY from the pre-amp and TOWARDS the amp, since that is the direction of signal travel. Now on the other hand, if you are going from a source to the Pre- the arrow would point AWAY from the SOURCE, and TOWARDS the PRE. It is all about the direction of signal travel.

    It is all about the direction of signal travel.

    Intersting, because the signal travels both directions. Maybe there should be two arrows.

    Didn't you know that there are traffic lights, along with "one way" signs inside?

    BINGO
    Now for the smarter Bill:)
    The only thing I would like to add is that there are 3 wires.
    1 signal
    2 ground
    3 shield

    On wire 3 the shield is only attached to the source end. If you hooked them up reverse the would still work, but would be more susceptible to transferring RFI to the amp.

    Some directional cables are marked because the ground is shunted on one end---it isn't "audio voo-doo", it's marked for a reason. Arrow points in the direction of flow:

    Source --> Preamp --> Amp --> Speakers

    and so on...
    Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

    I agree, I paid $43,023.18 to have my kimber cable connectors dipped in real moon dust at the NASA HQ's--they sound way better now.

    That I can agree with. But the original answer was wrong, it has nothing to do with the signal direction, because there isn't a signal direction.

    Sometimes a "simple explanation" is way better than a scientific debate. I enjoy your company:), and your comments:):)
