Good way to ruin your day

Last night I was changing a record, grabbed the edges with both hands and as I lifted it off the platter my right hand fingers slipped off. For whatever reason I tried to grab it and shoved the record very forcefully down underneath the arm. That poor little needle sticking out was gone in my mind. $3K out the window in a split second. It missed it though. Whew! I did a happy dance after a quick inspection. Oh the joys of vinyl!

With $3K I'd buy again my TT, cartridge, a phono pre, VPI cleaning machine......and still have over $1,000 for records :eek::eek::eek:

I was in a "cost no object" frame of mind when I picked out the cartridge. This hobby makes you do silly things.

Oh, I agree, and my post above was not intended to criticize you.....I've done MANY silly things due to this hobby

I've had that same experience . . . the first thing I remember feeling was nausia.

I did that but with a $300.00 cartridge. I think I would quit this if I wrecked 3k like that.

I think after this experience I'll NEVER touch someone elses rig. After all, I'm totally comfortable and confident with mine and it still happened. I'm still feeling pretty happy that nothing was damaged.
