I just read the news on CNN knowing full well there would be a thread here. I personally loved Ledger's acting. Whether it was in Knights Tale or Brokeback, the guy was versatile, and despite the "fame" BBM brought him he had a very bright future well before that movie.

Not going to shed a tear over his loss tonight, BUT he will be sorely missed. RIP Heath.

I agree. I take hand fulls of sleeping pills on accident all the time.

So lets just leave it alone about the suicide till the investigation is over....

Well, maybe it was an accidental suicide.

Very sad however you look at it. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and loved ones. They must be overwhelmed by this loss. RIP.

He was found by the housekeeper and masseuse. Apparently in one of the Olsen twins apartment. That's a little creepy, and fodder for the tabloids.

    Damn shame, all of it.

Filming was finished on Dark Knight. I can't imagine the studio would stop the film now since it's slated to be released in early summer and fairly close to finishing up.

It'll be released. As much as this sucks, and despite not needing it, this is huge press for The Dark Knight.

We went through all of this with Brandon Lee & The Crow.

This sucks and is very sad for sure, mostly for his daughter.

I think a lot of actors can't handle success very well. I personally would be overwhelmed if were to be put in the position of star status. It would take a very strong person to handle all the fortune and fame. I know actors and musicians have a much higher suicide rates if this is what happened?

There was actually a great interview with Dave Grohl in Maxim last month that brought up this very thing (though in relation to Britney I think, not something like this)
"The kids now who are experiencing fame, money, paparazzi - they need to get their asses out of the nightclubs and have a barbecue with their **** family once a week. It's not rocket science."
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Booo frickin hooo. Who cares. I've no sympathy. If this guy killed himself because he though his life sucked or he was depressed, then I could give a rat's butt.

"I cant' handle all this success and attention. Please stop handing me money for wearing your designer clothes. No girls, my nuts are tired I can't have sex with you anymore. Please call my assistant, she'll schedule you all in next week between my afternoon massages and midday martinis. No Sir, it's not a film about **** relationships its about the relationship between two people who have fallen victim to a forbidden love. And besides, you're not **** unless you give a reach around . . . "

    Stress . . . what crap.

He played great acting on The Patriot (as Gabriel, along with Mel Gibson). Too bad.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I think we are all casting the first stone here with speculation. It is a real bummer that this young man passed away. Let's just hope it WAS an accident and not something more.

it is sad that he is gone.. i don't care how he died other than to know it was an overdose.. that's all I need to know. the tabloids are going to have a hey day with this one though.

He was a good actor.. certainly had a very bright future ahead of him. RIP

    Taken from: http://www.smh.com.au/news/film/ledger-did-not-kill-himself-says-family/2008/01/23/1201024937592.html?page=2
"Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night," Ledger told the Times.

"I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going."

He said he took two Ambien pills, which only worked for an hour, the paper said.
Anyone who's taken Ambien will tell you, he has a problem. If I took two Ambiens(assuming he was prescribed the maximum dose), I would sleep for a minimum of 12-14 hours. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a accidental suicide. But, one that could have been easily avoided.

Based on Larry King the police don't feel it was a suicide, they found prescribed pills not scattered just in a container. Its most likely an accident :(
