I am interested in your opinions.

I currently own 3 LSi 25's, I purchased them at a great price and could not pass them up. I am trying to decide on whether to get a fourth and use a true center speaker or use the third lsi25 as a center and purchase lsi 15's for the rears in a 5.1 set-up.

Is this overkill? should I split these up and purchse lsi 9's instead for the rears? Any suggestions?

Is it overkill? Probably. Should you do it? Hell yeah.

I say run dual 25s as a center while you're at it.

Bad idea. You'll get major cancellations if you do this. I know you were probably joking but I feel it's my duty to point this out. :D

I am currently awaiting an outlaw amp and preamp. 990/7500 . Rated @ 300WPC into 4 ohms X 5 channels.
My concern is with the Lsi's overpowering the center channel. Any thoughts?
I would actually prefer this setup over using a 25 for a center, but I have heard that there are soundtracks that actually go below the capabilities of the center without a sub.
    Any thoughts are apreciated

Thanks for the feedback, I have found a fourth LSI25 and will be using them as my four corners and will purchase an LSIc for the center. I will be running 5.1. Does anyone run 7.1 here? Can you notice a significant difference between the 2 formats?

My wife is gonna murder me if I keep buying electronics!!

Found mine @ Frys. I do not know if Polk is discontinuing the Cherry, but I bought the last three they had. The black was not discounted at all

Only problem is that they do not ship to other stores so get them while you can

officially, the Dolby digital codec supports five full range channels
(including the center) of 20HZ to 20KHZ, I'm almost sure DTS also support a full range center channel,
but I doubt many movies have been coded in a way that would cause the 25's 10" active woofer
to so much as break a sweat.
that aside if placement is not an issue for you, then you're good to go.
