My setup: LSI15,LSIC,FXIA4,FXI3
Amp: Yamaha Rx-V1800 (rated at 130 wpc)

I've been looking at the ADCOM 5503 versus the Emotiva LPA1 (I know, you cant really compare a 3 channel versus a 5 channel).

The Left / Right / Center are power hungry so I was considering ADCOM 5503 and leave the rear / sourround for the yamaha to drive. But the Emotiva LPA1 also looks interesting.

Was wondering if anyone on the board has tired both, in particular with the LSI15.
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR805
Amp: Emotiva XPA-5
Front: LSI15
Center: LSIC
Sourround: FxiA4
Rear: Fxi3
Sub: Bic H100
TV: Sony 52' XBR4

Nice setup. Both amps are very good. Try getting a demo of them to make your decision.

Hard to get a demo of ADCOM 5503. ADCOM gives more power and juice on the front left right center where as the LPA1 gives a decent amount of power throughout the 5 channels.

Man... my neighbors arent going to like this new setup :)

I use the 5503 to drive a csi-5 and monitor 10's in my theater setup. It has plenty of good clean power and should be enough for the lsi's I would think.

I have used an Adcom 545, 555 and the LPA-1. The LPA-1 has a bit more power than the 545 but noticeably less than the 555. The 5503' output power is similar to the 555 (but to 3 channels). I replaced the 555 with the LPA-1 and have always had plenty of power to get to Dolby reference level and beyond if necessary which is an accomplishment with my power hungry LSi setup. Like you, I have the LSi 15 and the LSiC. I have the LSifx for rear surrounds.

The biggest difference between these amps in my opinion is that the LPA-1 has a vastly improved soundstage and clarity over the Adcom. It is amazing to me that Emotiva can sell it for what they do.

Are you getting better sound from the LPA1 because its a 7 channel amp? where as the 55 isnt.
