Need Help Choosing Right Center Speaker

I am hoping there is a more technical savvy person than me out there who can provide some advice. I have upgraded my home entertainment center and am in the process of upgrading my speakers. Because of budget, I will upgrade the speakers over time, starting with the center speaker. I would welcome any suggestions as to which of the following Polk center speakers would be the best choice for the set up I have.

My current set up is...

Room (viewing area) is about 16' x 16'
Onkyo 705 Receiver

Current Speakers are:

Fronts - Celestion 7's (about 12 years old)
Center - Vandersteen VCC
Surrounds - Celestion 7's

The Polk center speakers I am considering are: CSi A6, CSi A4 and LSiC

I am leaning toward the LSiC with hopes of adding LSi9's in the future as the fronts. But my concern is that until I am able to upgrade the fronts that the Polk centers that I am considering may not match up well with what I will be using for fronts until i can upgrade.

Any suggestions? Thanks

    Welcome to Club Polk.

    The LSI's are wonderful speakers. However, keep in mind that they are 4ohms & require a lot of power to have them operate to their full potential. That means getting separate amplification of usually 200wpc at 8ohms minimum.

    You do have a receiver that already has the preouts to do this which is a good thing.

    Since you are doing all of this over time anyway, don't worry about nothing matching up right now. Just get the speakers that you truly want to have for years to come, but keeping in mind it is going to cost more money if you go the LSI route.

    Thanks for the advice. So it sounds as thought the LSiC will work well with the Onkyo 705 Receiver? Once I decide to add the LSi9's as fronts in the future, will I need a more powerful receiver or will the Onkyo 705 suffice? Thanks

    The LSIC will work for now, but do watch the volume on the Onkyo. If it starts to sound strained or starts to clip, turn it down.

    You won't need another receiver, as I said it has preouts for all your channels in the back. Start looking on Audiogon for separate amplification of at least 200wpc @8ohms.

    Brands to look for are: Parasound, Rotel, Sunfire, Outlaw, B & K, Adcom. Get a multichannel amp & be done with it. It's not cheap but it will be worth it. Also an eye on our own classifed ads section for a good deal on an amp.
