DSW Pro 600 + Onkyo 605B

Could someone take a loot at the manual (online of course) for the Onkyo 605B? I am SO clueless when it comes to setting these up properly.

I have heard about setting the back speakers to small and the front/sub to large...but my receiver has nothing along those lines!

Also, I just want to make sure I have this hooked up properly the "Polk Way":
I have my 2 front RTi10's hooked into the subs "OUT" pegs, and the receiver into the "IN". Is that done properly?

Also, with this setup do I NOT need to plug the sub into the receiver using LFE? Or do I use BOTH LFE and speaker wire?

Thanks again for all the help!

On a Onkyo 605 its the easiest to follow Option 1 on Page 8 of your owners manual. Connect the sub with no speaker wires, and only the single "sub out" to the LFE input on the sub.

The "Polk Way" is option 2.

NEVER use both LFE and Speaker wire.

Thank you very much for the response.

What is the reasoning behind hooking up the fronts to the sub? If I don't hook them up to the sub, am I losing some of the bass from the fronts?

Ok none of the following is set in stone but generally:

If you have small satellites, the crossover frequency needs to be adjusted to around 120 Hz or so otherwise you'll have a gap in the frequency response. Receivers from a few years ago did not allow for this adjustment and were typically set at 80- which is fine for bookshelves and floorstanders.

In your setup with floorstanders like the RTi10 and with a modern day receiver like the Onkyo 605, there is enough adjustability that you don't have to hook it up the "Polk" way anymore.
