Hey there,

I'm new to CP. I have always loved polk speakers although I have never had my own until now. My question relates to receivers. I have two in mind for my set-up. Pioneer VSX-1017TXV-K vs. Onkyo 605. I was ready to buy the Onkyo but I have read some negative posts concerning it's performance. The Pioneer is THX certified and I will be using this system for movies about 90% of the time. Both are in my price range. Any comments???

Thanks,
Polk RTi8's
Polk CSi3
Polk FXi A4's
PSW505
Pioneer VSX-1017TXV-K

Samsung 67" LED

Welcome to the club Marlboro Man!

I have never heard either receiver but have enjoyed my Pioneer very much. They are powerful, have a good feature set and in my case are very reliable. I would not worry if an AVR has the THX certification.

The Harmon Kardons are supposed to sound good with the RTi speakers but I have not heard that combination. However for my .02 I would go with the Pioneer.
