If you can stretch you budget a little, I whole heartedly recommend the Hsu VTF-3. That's what my friend has. And he also has a big SVS. He and I both prefer the Hsu over the SVS for both HT and music.

what about Martin Logan Dynamo ?
Martin Logan Dynamo is a nice sub, but only 10". It's well made and versatile for both music and HT. I certainly enjoy mine.[ -

i have this sub also. but cannot write any pros and cons since this is my first sub. it was recommended here and thats why i bought it. -
The Velodyne SPL series is also something to consider. Although in this case you will have to stretch you budget more. The SPL-1000R is a good sub, fast, musical, and deep.
