I did a search and the results were overwellming. I read through a LOT of them but still didn't find what I was looking for. I am expecting my Jolida1301 today or tomarrow and I have some new tubes to put in it. I was wondering if there were any precautions I need to know about so I don't damage anything.
EDIT: I DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA HOW I POSTED IN THIS FORUM.:o I COULD HAVE SWORE I POSTED IN ELECTRONICS.

I'm just a rookie with tubes, but I wouldn't advise touching the tubes with bare hands, don't force and you should be good to go. Hopefully some members with more experience will chime in. Totally treitz3. Put the tubes in using gloves or a piece of cloth or something like that. (Just try not to get the oils on your hands on the tubes.) If you just baby the tubes into their sockets, you should be fine. Don't force them and make sure you line up the pins. Oh and one last thing, make sure you have the right tubes, but I would assume you have already noticed that.

Well I got the old tubes out and the new tubes in. Everything seems to be working fine. I felt like a doctor takeing them out and putting the in.

You know how to bias them, right?Political Correctness'.........defined

You'll need a small screwdriver and a VOM, preferably a digital one. Set it to volts/DC and turn the bias adjust screw until you reach the right number as specified by the maker. How you do this can vary from amp to amp, but generally you stick the negative probe to a ground point such as one of the negative binding posts. The positive probe goes in the bias test point. This should be done with the speakers connected, but the source disconnected or at least turned off. When installing new tubes, check them right away, then again after 5 or 10 minutes, then again after an hour. If they are holding bias, you're good to go. It doesn't hurt to check the bias every so often, just to be sure.Political Correctness'.........defined

Huh??????? Does this need to be done for all tubes?? These are for the pre side of a intergrated amp. Theres only 2 12ax7 tubes. Do I need to bias them. So far they sound great. Am I hurting something? Should I do this immeaditaly? I'll turn it off untill you respond and go get my volt meter.
Also I bought this item used it is a jolida 1301 intergrated amp. I don't have any paper work on it. How would I go about figureing out where to bias them. -
I couldn't find out for sure from a brief search with google, but I'm willing to bet the 1301 just uses the tubes on the input side and so they don't need biasing.
From looking at pics of the 1301A on Jolida's website, I also don't see any bias test points.
So I'd say you're good to go, but you might want to hold off until you hear from someone who's sure.George Grand wrote: »

Sorry to cause you alarm, nikolas812. There are no power tubes in your integrated, so nothing to bias.Political Correctness'.........defined

Too late. I have been listening for a while now with no problems and it sounds great. I shut it off for a second and popped the lid took a look around and couldn't find any screws that looked like they could be adjusted. Everything seems to be working fine.

Whew. Thanks. I thought I remembered reading a article about biasing the tubes on power amplifiers but didn't know if applied to pre amps also.
-
So let me get this straight, you only need to bias tube amplifier where the tubes are being used for out put? So this doesn't apply to tube pre and integrated where the tube aren't used for output?

I just found this if you want to handle your tubes better:
