Ken, the power AVRs are rated at are usually lower than what they put out. However it should be enough to get decent volume out of those speakers but it will have limits to what it can do. A word of caution, it's worse to over drive speakers with too little power than to drive them with too much power. You can damage the speakers, if you hear distortion back off immediately.

Have you already set the speaker levels using an automatic setting from the AVR if it has one? If not get thee to Radio Shack and get a SPL meter and set the levels manually. Once that is done you can bump the levels up and you won't have to turn the volume up as much to get the same volume. However remember not to drive them to distortion.

Thats not an amp. It's a receiver. Is it enough power? You tell us. I personally like separate high currant amps. You get much better SQ with an amp than a receiver, and they go louder. Its not about watts. Its about quality. Like stated above if its starts to distort turn it down.
