SS Amp Breaking??

I know there are many schools of thought on break-in times. Some I can understand logically. Speakers for their moving parts, and tubes generally change characteristics over time.
For solid state items like amps I am wondering what components within the amp change characteristics over time.
**NOTE** not looking to start a debate about if break-in is real or not. I'm just looking for some information from the experiences of others or logic behind the thinking.

I've never noticed break-in on my CD players, Pre-Amps, etc. (all solid state).
As far as amps, one of mine is 19 years old, the other I bought used, realy no way for me to tell at this point whether the sound changed or not.
