I am a Newbie and trying to research amps to drive LSi15/Lsic.

The AdCom GFA7000 was recommneded to me. But I am confused on the WPC. Some say 180 WPC, 200 WPC, 130 WPC. And then there's the 8 ohms and 4 ohms description. I thought I had to drive the LSI15 (at 4ohms) with 4 ohms but some are searching you can drive it at 8ohms

I am confused. Please clarify.

THanks
Ken

All separate amplifiers can drive any speakers. Most give the the wpc that it will driven at both 8ohms & 4ohm. So the Adcom has a 8ohms rating of 130wpc and the 4ohm rating is 200wpc.

The higher the wpc you have at 8ohms the less strain it will have when it has to push 4ohms.

That is why I always suggest getting 200wpc @ 8ohms. That will give the LSI's at least 300wpc @ 4ohms.

I was comparing this ADCOM receiver with the LPA1 from Emotiva. The emotiva is brand new and comes with warranty. Do you know if it will drive the LSI15 / LSIC / FXI4 sufficiently?

Sufficiently is subjective Gizmo. For me, that particular Emotiva wouldn't be sufficient. 2 others on this board also found in insufficient. One member has found it to be sufficient, but I don't think he is pushing LSI's either.

Only you will know if you decide to get one. But do your research. Particular look at Kex's thread & Wout's threads. This should give you a good idea either way.
