Felt the tweeters and dampen the baskets, works everytime.

sounds great...and what is that and how do i do that?:)

Felting tweeters involves gluing felt around the tweeters to prevent sound from being diffracted against the speakers front baffle. basic info. It doesn't look very good, but is a definite improvement for most speakers, and cost only around $5 in parts.
Dampening baskets means putting some type of dampening material on the speaker's baskets. I usually use dynamat extreme but black hole pad works to, along with other stuff like blu tak or the like. It generally tightens up the mids and bass, and for cheap speakers can get rid of ringing. I did it on my LSis a while back and noticed a big improvment link
More info can be found on Ric Schultz's site:

youda man..ill give it a whirl

Or caulk, I know some people use it for the baskets.
Be careful with the drivers though, some of the speaker wires are tough to get off and sometimes there can be exposed screws. I got cut up pretty bad by my LSis, but I was damping the cabinets to...which is kinda overkill. Might help with your Rtis though, damping the cabinets gives them a more solid feel and makes them less prone to rattle and vibrate. -
oooo yea i have bad rattle problems. see i wasnt sure if it were a good idea to dampen the whole cabinet. so i can take dynamat and line the whole cabinet and this would help with the rattle?

If it is really noticeable then it is probably a issue that requires service, not a tweak. If you could put your hand on the speaker at high volumes and feel vibrating, then the tweak could help sound quality. If it rattles all the time then something is probably wrong.

nah its not all the time and it seems to only be at certain frequency ranges. if i am listening to music with lots of low freq. i can put my ear up against the cabinet and here it vibrating inside. and when i play something where a very high midrange comes up i can hear it vibrate even from my listening position. if i press my ear to the cabinet at this time it sounds as if there is a lot of resonance inside the cabinet. my question is if i treat the inside of the cabinet can i go overkill? one guide i read said its possible you could make the speaker sound thin and almost deadened

I have heard by some that you can go overkill on the cabinet, but I don't understand how. I figure the deader the cabinet the better. You could easily mess up the internal volume though, as the drivers and ports are designed with a certain volume in mind and adding damping material will slowly eat away at this.
For both tweaks you can see how you like it pretty easily. For the felt cut a piece for the tweeter and use tape or blu tak or something to temporarily fasten it to the speakers. For the damping don't open the speakers up yet, first put some weight on top to see how the sound can change. You could fill a gallon size bag full of sand for each speaker, throw it on top, and see how extra weight will affect the cabinets. -
You can also use velvet around the tweeters, it's much more expensive though."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

so im literally just covering the front of the cabinet with felt or velvet?
