F/S Modified Oppo DV-970HD

This unit was fully dynamatted inside, including transport drive. (Done by Madmax, very nice workmanship.). The unit has about 30 hours play on it. Comes with box, remote, oppo bag, & manual. When I received it from Madmax it had about 10 hours on it and I've only used it another 20 hours.
I'll throw in a 25' HDMI cable & four sorbothane pods for further damping as feet.
Only reason for selling is I went with a different piece for my CDP as well as a differnent piece for SACD & DVD_A.
No scratches. There are four sorbothane pod footprints on the top of the case. I was experimenting one day with placing sorbothane pods on both the botton and top of the unit for further dampening and I forgot that sorbothane can cause discoloration when left in place for a period of time on finishes. You can't see it unless you are directly under a bright light.
This Oppo sounds pretty good for the price line. It is awesome as a transport matched with a good DAC.

In my book Sony digital players have been notorious for that. Over the years I've purchased a few Sony CDPs, carousels, DVDs etc and I had the same problem. Skipping, locking up because of a finger print, jumping to the next tract etc, especially when I get some of the more abused Netflix dvds. I have two of these Oppos and have never had a single problem in that regard.
Maybe if you clean up the disc a little the Sony won't skip. -

Excellent unit! I will attest to the 10 hours use when I had it. The only complaint I had with the sound was the attack time, it was slow enough to annoy me. The dynamat fixed this trait. Also, the video looked awesome on my 50" plasma. I move through a lot of players just to see whats out there so I sold it after the initial playtime was over.

On the 970 it sharpened the attack time of all the sounds to what it should have been. Don't ask me why, I have no clue.

I have used this Oppo for two channel audio. I have another that is the same model in my HT rig and I haven't had a chance to Dynamat it. This difference is not subtle.
If given the choice of a piece of gear that has not been dampend or one that has, I will always buy the dampend piece.

You have to be careful though; an over dampend piece of gear can sound dead and muddy. When I am dampening any piece I do it in small quantities and then give a listen if it is sounding good I keep going in small quantities until I reach the desired effect. -
