Nice 1 Frys & DHL
Hi all:
I ordered a friend a pair of Polk R50s from Fry's at the clearance price of 69.99 each plus shipping (around 170 total). I tracked the shipment through DHLs website. First of all, DHL said they would be delivered on the 11th, signature required. They didn't show up so I checked the site and they had been shipped to the wrong location. Not a huge problem, they finally showed up yesterday, the 14th.
Here's the best part... The shipping boxes appeared just fine. We opened them last night after work and the first thing we noticed was the top styrofoam packing was destroyed in both boxes. It definitely looked like they were shipped on their tops. When we took the speakers out, they both had damage to the tops.:( I'll try to post some pics later.
I'm not sure what kind of service Fry's provides to deal with something like this. I've never dealt with them before. I read about returns on their site and it says the buyer is responsible for return shipping. I emailed them this morning. I'll let you know what they say they'll do.

Happened to a few of us here on the boards, with different speakers of course. Seems as if Polk doesnt offer the most secure form of protection with the provided styrofoam. With one of my 12s the woofer was hanging out of the cabinet when it arrived so it happens sometimes. Call up Frys and have them replace it, sucks I know of course.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Anytime you order from a company and its damaged in shipping, call them immediately and setup a return. If they still have the speakers available, you may be able to exchange, but if it was clearance, good luck. Your choices are probabably return for refund, or live with the damage. I've never had any luck getting a partial refund to make up for damage. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I've had the exact same experience with DHL, many times. I refuse to use them anymore, and there are vendors I won't even do business with anymore because DHL is their only shipping option. Wouldn't touch DHL with a ten-foot pole. -
I recently ordered a pair of rti8's separately from Fry's, one came in two days, and the other took almost ten days. It sat in DHL's warehouse for a week, and after several calls it was finally delivered in a tattered box, fortunately the speaker wasn't damaged.

I called Fry's and they're sending another pair, via DHL, of course. I'll let you know how much damage the next pair has.
