I am looking to replace my Velodyne 1012.The base has never been as tight as I think it should and at very low frequencies I am getting a sound as if the speaker has a crack in it.I took it apart but everything looks ok .Might be the voice coil.Am looking at the psw 505.Rest of system is 3.1tl's csi5 fxi5's.Everything is powered by Carver tfm24's.
Thanks
Thanks

Can't believe no one has responded to this yet. What's your budget, room size and expectations? HT or music? I think that we are probably in a time period that great woofers at very reasonable (maybe even most bang for the buck ever) are with us or we will see soon. HT is too blah without the LFE, a lot of people now own HDTV's many in the 42"+ size, so I see it as a very lucrative segment of the speaker market, which will bring on fierce competition. Look at what AV123 is doing with the MFW15 and I hear talk of a killer coming from HSU, and I'm sure we will see more to follow.

Lots of people like SVS, and plenty more like Polk, as well as your previous Velodyne. The Sunfire subs are also hard to beat because of the technology. If your handy, you could also make your own subs for a lot less, or if a little less handy, order a build your own kit from partsexpress.com or a similar site.

Thanks for the help.I went out and listened to a number of subs including the klipsch ks12d the polk 600 pro martin logan grotto deffinative mirage and more.I ended up with a paradigm pw 2200 v2 .The sub was more musical than any other one that I had listened to.With movies it is chest pounding and very tight.I was able to pick it up on close out for $650.

Damn, sorry I missed this one....Did you check out a Sunfire? I loved my Super Junior, and I have heard the Signature, which was also impressive. FYI, you can get a Super Junior for about $500 now....

Congrats 2-tall, Not familiar with the pw2200 but paradigm is known for some outstanding speakers. It looks like you are lucky to live someplace that has shops that have a lot of quality components on hand to shop and audition. I'm pretty limited with what's avail. for a listen before I buy. You, looked, you listened, you bought what your ears told you to at a price your happy with. Enjoy your new sound
