Not sure about settings with DSW Pro 600 and RTi A7s

I just bought a pair of RTi A7s and a DSW Pro 600 (to replace my PSW300). Until I upgrade to a new receiver/amp, I'm using my existing Sony STR-DA80ES unit. In the receiver, should I set the RTi A7s to "LARGE" or "SMALL"?
What would provide the overall best sound quality with this setup? My main focus is on music. I have the sub hooked up via LFE.
Thanks for the info.

Well there really isn't a right or wrong way to do it- as long as you've tried it out both ways and find out what's best for you.
Generally I like to set the main speakers to "small" even if they're towers like the A7's- provided that you have a capable sub (which the DSW PRO 600 is). Make sure you set the crossover frequency appropriately (60-80 Hz on the receiver- again, experiment).
I like to set the mains to small because 1) it filters out the bass from the main speakers and redirects it to the more capable sub. This means the main speakers can focus on mids and highs. 2) The bass output of the main speakers at some points will reinforce the bass from the sub, and at other points cancel each other out.-Eric

Hi Eric. Thanks for the response!
I'm not certain that my receiver (old, circa 1998) will let me specify a crossover frequency for the main speakers (or even the center or surrounds for that matter). I didn't seem to find this in the manual. Would you advise me to stick to "large" for the front until I upgrade to a newer receiver/pre-amp/processor that allows me to manually adjust the crossover points on the main speakers, or would you still recommend setting them to "small" even if it turns out that I can't adjust the receiver's crossover point?Polk Audio RTi A7s (front), CSi A6 (center), RM2000IIs (rear), DSW PRO 600 (sub); Sony Grand WEGA KDS-R60XBR2 60" SXRD display; Sony STR-DA80ES receiver; Sony PS3; Pioneer Elite CLD-79.
