sounds like you need a more powerful car amp... if you're using one at all.

car speakers need an external amp to make them sound their best and preform their best too. i tried to power mine off the Pioneer head unit.. and they sounded ok, but distorted when I raised the volume to slightly above normal levels,

added a 4 channel car amp. and bam, sounds so much better and no more distortion. and I can crank them much louder now too.

since your problem is a car audio problem.. post it in the car audio section of this forum.. you'll get people who know more about it then the home audio people do.

    good luck.

    Chunk,

Send an e-mail to Polk`s Customer Service, and explain your problem..

I know several people that have those speaks and have had no problems

They are actually great speaks, but the best 6x9 on the planet is the Momo 6x9

sounds like distortion is getting into the loop...turn all your levels to flat, and make sure everything is well grounded

Can you imagine being on the receiving end of that email? Hope you get it worked out Chunk but a good 4 channel amp will give your door speaks and 6x9s the umph. That deck is only going to give so much power.

Those db speakers are not very efficient, where most kenwoods are very efficient, that will account for some difference in sound. Chunk - you said you have them running off a 600 watt amp, what amp is it? You don't have a crossover between the head unit and the amp do you?
