My HT and 2ch share sources, but each has it's own pre, speakers, and amps.

2 channel HT is fine for romantic comedies and dramas with no action but give me 5.1 or 7.1 for action flicks like Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, and Black Hawk Down, especially when the action is coming straight to you and you can hear the bullets fly past the guy in front of you and whiz buy your right side and finish up behind you. Artillary fire in the background is cool, too.

I think any 2 channel rig with a televsion set in the room is bastardized.

Maybe with old big CRT's, but with flat panels mounted on the wall, well back from the front of the speakers, I see no problem.

yes, William agree about the sonics of the flatter TV sets themself, just dont like having a TV set anywhere near my 2-ch rig, one rig is HT and I love it and watching video and hearing all those sounds, the other for 2ch and as we all know I love that one even more.

Way back when I had the two rigs combined I could never get used to that rather ugly blank TV screen just sitting there and I certainly did not want to watch anything when I am listening to music.

Understandable. I usually have the lights low, or I'm reading while I listen, so I don't stare at the screen. A lot of the time my eyes are closed when listening as well.
