It's better than the speakers on my TV. I am a music lover, and watch movies and TV sometimes. I care about music, and being able to watch a film on full range speakers is just a plus.

I am not looking for surroundsound or subwoofers. I am looking for serious music listening, and some extra speakers run way over by the TV, so I don't have to settle for TV speakers. Simple as that. The fact that they are nice towers (I prefer my bookies for music) is just a secondary advantage... they image well, and, again, I don't have to use the TV speakers when watching movies.

I love 2 channel, and that is going to be my focus again. I will how ever use 5.1 for movies. @ channel just doesn't cut something sneaking up on ya in a movie. I think 2 channel, and 5.7/7.1 can play nicely together. My Outlaw 990 does an admirable job of both. I can no way afford 2 separate systems. I will just lower the DBs on my mains for theater. I actually will use 4.1 because my SDA present a center image beautifully, so I don't need a center.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

Two-channel and HT can peacefully co-exist. It's not difficult to integrate them. The keys to making it work are using a separate CDP and a separate preamp for 2-channel duty. The amp and front speakers can be shared. However, a shared sub is not quite that simple. Of course, full range fronts don't necessarily require a sub.
HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50” LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

My HT and 2ch share sources, but each has it's own pre, speakers, and amps.

2 channel HT is fine for romantic comedies and dramas with no action but give me 5.1 or 7.1 for action flicks like Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, and Black Hawk Down, especially when the action is coming straight to you and you can hear the bullets fly past the guy in front of you and whiz buy your right side and finish up behind you. Artillary fire in the background is cool, too.

Maybe with old big CRT's, but with flat panels mounted on the wall, well back from the front of the speakers, I see no problem.

yes, William agree about the sonics of the flatter TV sets themself, just dont like having a TV set anywhere near my 2-ch rig, one rig is HT and I love it and watching video and hearing all those sounds, the other for 2ch and as we all know I love that one even more.

Way back when I had the two rigs combined I could never get used to that rather ugly blank TV screen just sitting there and I certainly did not want to watch anything when I am listening to music.

Understandable. I usually have the lights low, or I'm reading while I listen, so I don't stare at the screen. A lot of the time my eyes are closed when listening as well.
