    For interconnects, yes.

So I guess I'll try some interconnects first (in the meantime) and wait until the muffler rusts through. When the exhaust starts sounding like a **** can, like the last one did, then I think that would be the time to replace it. Although it seems like that time is near...

    One more question -

Is it bad to drive around with a rusting exhaust (other than having a loud, **** can noise)? Will it harm anything to do so?

theres no problem exept for the noise

even that the noise is pollution, the real pollution depends on the "catback" ( im not sure of the name in english )

Depending on how badly the rust is, it could make a negative impact on two things:
    1) Gas mileage. If exhaust is leaking out the exhaust before the o2 sensor, your car's computer may be causing you to run rich (aka more fuel than necessary)
    2) Environment. Any fumes escaping the exhaust prior to the catalytic converter will cause more harm to the environment.

Aftermarket exhaust is not going to yield you notable performance improvements with a naturally aspirated vehicle. On forced-induction motors however, less exhaust resistance can make a significant increase in power. (25+hp!)

Yep, the 3" turbo-back will yield some gains, that's for sure. The HKS and Stillen are nice kits, but I would hit a Nissan forum and do a search, I bet there are a whole lot of kits available.

Thanks, I haven't seen the Stillen yet but I've heard a few people recommend the HKS.

Uh-oh. If gas mileage is going to take a hit with a leaky exhaust, then I guess it should be replaced soon, like in the next year or so...because the first exhaust started leaking around this time (four years).

    McLaren F1 does not use I6 motor, it's a V12 (based on BMW M70).

Hahahaha, wow. The McLaren F1 is DEFINITELY my dream car. By FAR my favorite supercar.

However, it in no way has a regular M-series BMW engine in it! It was specifically designed and built by BMW at (insert guys name here...I forgot it)'s request.

I'm not sure how much they cost originally, how many were made, or how many versions were made. Suffice it to say a few different versions, some street legal and some not.

But, at any rate, it'd take over a million dollars to buy one of any version.

This is a good overall video about the McLaren F1 that was aired on Fifth Gear, a car tv show in England.

Ha, I'm glad I googled it, as I had no idea the McLaren was this rare! Here's a snippet from wikipedia:
The McLaren F1 was formerly the fastest street legal production car in the world for over a decade, from 1994 to 2005. It was engineered and produced by McLaren Automotive, a subsidiary of the British McLaren Group that, among others, owns the McLaren Mercedes Formula One team. The car features a 6.1-litre 60° BMW S70 V12 engine and it was conceived as an exercise in creating what its designers hoped would be considered the ultimate road car. Only 100 cars were manufactured, 64 of those were street versions, 5 were LMs, 2 were GTs and the rest were GTR racing models. Production began in 1993 and ended in 1998.

In terms of top speed, the McLaren F1 was, until 2005, the fastest production car ever built (having achieved a top speed of 391.2 km/h (243.08 mph)), eclipsing the Jaguar XJ220, however since then (as of 2007) three cars have broken this speed record.

Yep, 2JZ and RB26 are quite strong I6 engines. The I6 in the last M3 wasn't very good, BMW engineers dropped the ball on that one pretty badly.

    2) Environment. Any fumes escaping the exhaust prior to the catalytic converter will cause more harm to the environment.

Please dont let it get to that point....

Sure, we usually replace the exhaust when it starts to make a loud noise, that is when we know it has rusted through.

Maybe it's just bad luck, or the snow in NY is what's causing our exhausts to rust.

On a positive note, I think that the current one can still be used for a little bit of time.

Unfortunately, there is some rattling/vibration sounds from under the car, I hope it's not the exhaust rusting away and moving around...the last one did that and you could hear the pipe moving distinctly.
