Floorstands vs dedicated surround speakers

Since I didn't want to spam my main (and FIRST EVER) post with a ton of questions, I thought I would create a new post to air out some questions.
Starting with the RTi10's, vs say...the RTi/F series surround speakers.
Will I be LOSING much in the way of sound quality (based on movies only) if I went with 4 RTi10's instead of 2 RTi10's and 2 surround?

I would say that largely depends on the room configutation and position/proximity of the rear speakers.Do you hear that buzzing noise?

I've had my HT up for almost a month now of ALOT of movies, HD broadcasts, etc.
The surrounds aren't really used all that much.
And unless you select some of the more dramatic DSP effects, RTi10s seem like a big overkill, imho.
I guess it depends on how big your listening room is and the layout...and of course, your budget.
RTI10's as rear surrounds???? Wow...you must be rich!

I'm not the only one on these messgage boards using LSi15s as surrounds. For me, the choice was simple math: LSiFX dipole configuration speakers ($1,000) and speaker stands or heavy-duty ceiling mounts ($500) or another set of full range LSi15s ($1400).Do you hear that buzzing noise?

I'm jealous!
RTI4s here as the surrounds at $149 for the pair and $62 for ceiling mounts.
Slumming it...;)

Actually, I got lucky and got them on sale at Fry's for 199 EACH!
And since I bought 2 pairs I got $200 off of my DSW Pro 600 sub!
Not sure if anyone really answered with a specific yes/no, so I'm gonna guess that my RTi10's can handle the surround-sound job of satalite speakers without losing any quality?"Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. Now, i'm getting this Onkyo TX-SR605B.
Will I run into any trouble now or in the future as far as getting my money's worth out of these RTi10's and my DSW Pro 600?"Dr Dunn admitted that his research could also be interpreted as evidence that women are shallower than men. You will be fine with the sub. However, you should get the Onkyo 705 instead since it will give you preouts for future amplification upgrades, which will allow you to operate your RTI 10's to their full potential.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2
