Thought I would post pics of these. SDA SRS are from an ebay purchase (drove to PA to pick them up, they've been discussed here before) - $1200. SDA SRS 2.3tls are local craigslist just before Christmas - $500
Both pairs need some work, with the only thing being heavy duty is wood repair/rebuilding/replacement for the top of the one SRS. I'm going to have to buy a lot of RDO-194's and 198's (I've got 2 pairs of SDA 2's for the side columns of the home theater - original 2 and studio 2A - sometime over the next year, I'll have to decide if CRS+ will be my choice for the rear pair). I've got a coworker that will do crossover upgrades for me for beer (he repairs/maintains TV/HDTV transmission gear).
Getting ready to do the initial cleaning on these two pair and put them up in my study with the 2A's to get them out of the garage. The screws were already rusty on the tweet's. Other than 'yep, they play music' when I picked both pairs up, haven't had them playin, and it's killing me.
Any input welcome. I'm no audiophile.

Thanks for the offers to help Lightman and Fireman. I'll need it.
Lightman, PM sent.
Fireman, I'll give you a call to set up a get-together time.
As for the tweeter hybrid array, lol, I noticed that the top one is definitely silver, with the middle one very dark, black almost, and the bottom one looks more in-between, more like all three in the other speaker. Odd.

The middle tweet is an RD0 replacement. The two outer are original sl3000. Easy way to tell is the foam around the dome on the sl3000. The RD0's don't have foam. Also as the sl3000 and sl2500 age the dome tends to turn a bronze/goldish color where the RD0 is very black. Lastly just by looking at the dome you should see the RD0 is silk and the sl3000 and sl2500 are a laminate material.
Make sure the middle tweet on the 2.3TL's is the correct RD0198-1 NOT an RD0194-1. The only way to tell the difference is the RD0198-1 has one of the connection tabs larger than the other. Whereas the RD0194-1 has both connection terminals the same size. Pull it and make sure, if it is correct (RD0198-1) then that's one less you have to buy.
The SRS's will require RD0194-1 if you didn't already know that."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Had a closer look at the pic and it appears all the tweets in the 2.3TL's have foam around the domes. Disregard my original observation. I believe Polk sold original tweeters up until about 2002-2003 so perhaps the middle tweeter is much newer so it doesn't have the Bettina of the other older original tweets."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Well since we're having a RDU-SDA love fest...
Hi my name's WindWalker and I'm a Polkie
I've only been to this site for about am month now
and just picked up my first pair of SDAs-TODAY
is there a 12 step program location anywhere close to Capital Blvd?
ThanksSome of the worst wrongs get righted on three cords -
heiney, we should call you the tweeter guru!
-
Break out the windex for cleaning the drivers. As for the dark tweeter it looks like an SL2500. Not one of Polk's better tweeters.
Enjoy you big leap into SDA's:)Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Dude, it's too late - once you get the speakers in your possession you're beyond help! All we have is each other and our speakers (in my case they're older than me!)
But, I love the logo you just made up: "RDU-SDA love fest". Who wants bumper stickers? -

Which ones? -
Windwalker, you must have picked up the studio 2's on Craigslist. They were pretty dusty, but other than that, looked OK in the pics.
Congrats! and Welcome to Club Polk.

DaveOnce again we meet at last. -
Wow those are beauties maybe you have an extra mw6510 for me laying around somewhere

No spare mid-woofs. Got my first 2 replacement lightly used rdo's today (thanks nspindel). Now I just need 18 more  (SRS, SRS 2.3tl, SDA 2, SDA 2a)
I'll have some sl2000s and sl3000s in the coming months, but not likely any mid-woofs.
I'm likely on the hunt for a deal on a pair of CRS for the rear surround pair to round out my sda home theater.
