GV#27 and I were yacking about the Reckhorn B-1 Bass Management System. It looked like a pretty cool little unit. Does anyone have any experience with this piece, or other Reckhorn equipment. It's available for $79 which sounded like a pretty good deal.

Kicks ****....built like a tank...high quality adjustments ...dead silent....has the perfect adjustment range as well as a very nice subsonic filter. Both myself and a buddy of mine picked ours up a couple of weeks ago from here
http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=B-1 ....bout time something so cheap is built so well and works as advertised.

Here's the little bastage in use :) My adjustments for this particular setup are subsonic set to cut below 12Hz....boost set at 20Hz...boost level at 6.5db...overall level set at just over mid level...high cut OFF ( LFE signal ) works flawlessly.

Shadow I see you built a center channel like mine. Which mx65's did you use? The 03's? I used a peerless tweet, and a Monitor 10a xover.
    Monitor 7b's front
    Monitor 4's surround
Frankinpolk Center (2 mw6503's with peerless tweeter)
    M10's back surround
    Hafler-200 driving patio Daytons
    Tempest-X 15" DIY sub w/ Rythmik 350A plate amp
Dayton 12" DVC w/ Rythmik 350a plate amp
    Harman/Kardon AVR-635
    Oppo 981hd
    Denon upconvert DVD player
    Jennings Research (vintage and rare)
    Mit RPTV WS-55513
    Tosh HD-XA1
    B&K AV5000

Nice set-up. I'll be using it with these boys that I just finished. (disregard the B&Ws and receiver) We'll it looks like with the B-1 then since you have liked it. After the next pay check, Bass management here we come!

I gotcha.. I went with the mw6503's, perfect tember match to my 7's. I heard things about the Vifa's though.

Ya, I was a little disappointed when I run the subs for the first time yesterday. First, they are internally crossed at 140Hz which is high, but that will just provide protection once I have the B-1. Also, they are about 87db/1w efficient, so they get lost when running them line level with main speakers on the same volume control.

I tried 03's in there...then had the Vifa's sitting in a closet and wanted to try them...they sounded fine so I used the 03's elsewhere. That bedroom is like my test cell...the red headed **** of a stepchild room for testing...computers...speakers...electronics..etc. It never stays the same for more then a couple of days :)

Matter of fact I think the 03's went into the main speakers that are in the same room right now.

I want to build a room like that. Hell , it doesnt even have to be connected to the house, just nearby walking distance....lol...

We have to wait till Zingo gets his B-1 shipped to his house anyways to continue the B-1 talk ;)

If you notice the crossovers ( Well the outer cover anyways ) have no serial number on them...I got a lot of polk crossovers years ago new from the factory. These happen to be monitor 10 crossovers...the 10" radiator is rear mounted ala CRS+ style...internally braced extensively....real veneer...etc

Very very nice. I was going to ask if they were ported, but the Pr would be better. I ported my center channel, only because of tuning, for vocals. Seems like the cabinets are about the same size as the CRS. A job well done.

No hard feelings on the thread. It's funny how some topics spawn other topics, and like shadowofnight said, it will be a better discussion once I get my B-1, now that I know I am going to get the B-1.

I'm curious as to how this thing works. How can you have "bass management" when this has only one output? All the crossovers I have seen have at least a high & low pass output. How do you hook this up & use it?

Subwoofer controller might be a better description.

So, I take this thing is used either for enhancing the bass response of a speaker system without a subwoofer, or as a subwoofer crossover for a sub that does not have a crossover?

Nice little unit there, how much does these go for? Im curious as to how it would compare to the velodyne SMS-1. Obviously the Velodyne has tons more input, but as for Bass Control which would give better sound ouput? Any thoughts?

With the SMS 1 having the DSP room correction I think it would likely be the winner on most counts but it does cost substantial more.
