Picked up used cheap off craigslist.
Hooked up via the preouts on my Yamaha HTR-6090. So far after playing a few cd's I'm very happy with my first amp purchase. Haven't experienced the Carver "thump" when turning off yet.
Thanks all the regulars, this forum has been the best resource since I bought my first pair of R15's a year ago.
Now all I need is another amp for my CSi3 and some FXi5's? I thought I was done after the RTi10's but craigslist keeps pulling me back in.

Congrats on the Carver. Do me a favor and get a Csi5 instead of the 3.

Sounds like a good time. Rock on.

No doubt I was looking for a 5 but couldn't help myself when a 3 came up for sale locally. It's definitely on the horizon. -
I'm doing some research and can't find the answer to whether the Adcom GFA535 will operate in bridged mode. There's no documentation of bridged mono specs for the GFA535, anyone know whether that's the final answer?
Alternatively, would bi-amping my CSi3 with the GFA535 be a desirable option? I'm trying to stay $200 or less for the center channel amp so I'm also looking at the Audiosource 5.3 monoblock, running $200 at amazon shipped which does 150wpc @ 8 ohms. Audiosource's stereo offerings (One/Two/Three/100/200) are some others I'm looking at in bridged mode.
Thanks in advance. -
I've never read any specs that say the GFA535 can be operated in bridged mode, which is why I ruled it out of my search for a center channel amp. I would go to Adcom's website and check the owners manual ... I'm sure they have it available online.
I ended up getting an Audiosource 100 and that's what I'm currently using for my center channel. I'm planning to upgrade very soon, though, since I just got a used Parasound amp for the L/R channels and want my center amp to also be a Parasound. My HT

The only Adcom that can be run in bridged mode is the GFA 555 and 555II. Perhaps there are some multi channel Adcom's that will do 1 channel as well but I don't recall the exact model #'s off the top of my head.
Audiosource amps are made by ATI (if I remember correctly) and certainly a suitable solution. I'd choose an Adcom over an Audiosource any day but it seems the Audiosource has the configuration you are looking for.
Good luck and Welcome"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. It looks like the Adcom 5002 (175wpc) and 6002 (200wpc) can be run in bridged mode and I'm seeing some of these locally for sale. Would also make a solid future surround channel amp I believe. I hear nothing but good things about the GFA535 but the lack of versatility with the absence of a bridged mode keeps me away.
Thanks. -
Got a hit on an Audiosource Amp3 that I will pick up today that will run 400wpc in bridged mode (150wpc stereo).
My CSi3 should be able to handle the bridged mode wattage correct? It's rated for 180wpc max which doesn't mean much I know but since I'm still very much an amp novice I wanted to make sure. -

Waisted wattage on the center. No need to throw 400 watts at it.Don't get the fascination with bridgeing. You only add hum and noise in most cases, and shorten the amps life expectancy.Buy a decent 3 channel amp for the front or save up some coin for a 5 channel amp.Just my.02.HT SYSTEM-
