Question on Source Connections

If I have a preamp with 4 source inputs & I wish to connect 5 sources, what options do I have? Would there be a degradation in sound reproduction if a source is not connected directly to the preamp? Specifically I am interested in connecting the following: CD player, tuner, DVD, TV & iPod. Thank you.

You have several options:

1.-Get a Y cable to get two sources to 1 input
2.-Use your DVD player for CD's (Maybe sell both and fund a good universal player?)
3.-Get a DAC; connect CD and DVD player to DAC, and then DAC to inputs.
4.-Probably others also.
