woooooooooooooo hooooooooooo. i'm having so much fun right now doing some phenomenal jammin on my RTA 15TLs listening to a mobile fidelity master recording vinyl through a Krell preamp, then stamped onto a CD. plus i've just traded up from a Bryston 4B to a Carver M-1.5t and put the Bryston on my 15" high excursion dvc sub producing 400 per coil at 4 ohms. i'm experiencing 2 channel euphoria.

anyway, i just thought i might start a thread to see if anyone else is in the same boat tonight.

Some, not all, but some of the Carver's will hold there own against the big boys.

Still dialin' in my rig, but for the most part, 2 channel euphoria has been a staple for a while. Isn't it wonderful?

you know, I wouldn't have thought the Carver to out perform my 4B either, but a fellow audiophile friend insisted that I try it. he introduced me to my RTA-15tls, so who am I to question, plus, I always like trying new gear. I have got to tell you, I was very pleasantly surprised. the Carver has a subtlety that the Bryston seems to overlook.

thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I have really enjoyed looking around the forums since I found out about the club.

    Ben,

Synergy is the thing. Most would not consider a vintage carver an upgrade over a Bryston. I never heard a Bryston, but I do know Synergy. Sometimes different gear, better or worse, sounds better with certain gear.

that said, I love my vintage Carvers (m4.0 and TFM45)

they come off warmer than most solid state amps, and that might be the improvement your hearing. its about what you like.

    welcome to the club :)

I had a M4.0t for a while, but sold it for a handsome profit to fund other purchases. When I did have it, it was very powerful and reliable. I used to like how music would be very loud by the meters wouldn't move much on the Carver. It has power for days.

It's been said by a few that Polk and Carver mate very well together and I myself can attest my TFM-6cbs did a great job on my HT speakers. I've since gone to B&K over Carver for HT.

Welcome to the club! sounds like you have a fine system going.

    Ohski,
thank you, I have found new appreciation for Carver, and Im not turning back.

    Scott,
it is a large main room that is open to two other large rooms, about 4000 sq ft total. it also has many hard surfaces. not too many that are parallel though. anyway the 15tls just don't quite fill the low end with all that space. so I compensate with the sub.

btw, im drinkin a miller lite right now. cheers!
