These are about 90 miles away from me and I was wondering if $100.00 or a little less would be a good deal for these. I no nothing about vintage polks but I have been thinking of putting together a small all vintage 2-channel rig. I thought these might be a good buy. Thanks for any info.

Run! You don't find to many WITH stands at that price.
-
Get 'em - that's a good deal IMHO. As Beardog said, if you don't like them somebody on here will probably buy them from you. I've only heard good things about the Mon. 7s.

Thats what I was wanting to hear.:D I just sent him a question about meeting me half way and if those are the original stands or not. After he replys I will probably go ahead and make him a offer. -
They pack a wallop for a mid size speaker. Hope you get to enjoy them soon!

Those are Monitor 7B's with peerlees. It's a no brainer for the price just click BIN and be done with it. Whoever made the offer and was declined must have really lowballed the seller.Stands to boot. They will be gone soon.

Crap! Now I am nervous. I would like to wait for him to answer my questions first. Also the shipping on them is $90.00 that would take the total to $199.00 for who ever bought them. Are they worth more than $200.00?? Are they really going to sell that quick? If so let me know and I'll go ahead and hit the BIN button. -

I would pick them up in person. Shipping speakers always has its drawbacks. If these were close to me they would be gone at that price:p. If you are serious about putting together a small 2 channel rig just buy them you will not be dissappointed.

Definitely pick them up. I mistakenly had a pair of speakers shipped to me last year and they were dropped (DHL) and the XO's damaged. On my next set I drove 700 miles in one day and picked them up. Never regretted it.Sony 60'' SXRD 1080p

I am going to pick these up. The point I was makeing is that if anybody else was to buy them and were not local they would be paying $200.00 for them. I was wanting to know if at $200.00 if they will likely be sold before I get my questions answered. My questions to him were if those were the original stands and if he could meet me half way. That would be around 40-45 miles one way for both of us. If they are likely to be sold before I get me questions answered I would go ahead and hit the BIN button. If worse came to worse I would just have to drive the 90 miles. If it was unlikely they will sell within the next day or two I would just assume wait for my questions to be answered.

Some people don't like strangers coming to pick stuff up. Not saying this is the case here, but just keep it in mind.
If it were me, and it's not, I would just drive the whole distance instead of haggling about halfway and be done with it. The logistics would be simpler. No potential to get lost, no choosing a meeting point and time... The guy's house won't move - so if you get lost and are late, it's merely rude to show up, instead of him getting to the meeting point, waiting, and then leaving. Am I making sense? -
Monitor 7B's are IMO the best monitors Polk made. Go get them._________________________________________________

Yes and no. As for haggling there would be none. If he didn't want to meet half way thats fine. I would just drive the full distance but it doesn't hurt to ask and in my past experience meeting someone has went a lot better than going to peoples houses. It is usually easier for both partys(or least easier for me:D) to meet at a place they are both familiar with than to try and find a house in a unfamiliar part of the state and neighborhood. But thats just me. I would get lost in a paper bag. Plus time and gas are cut down considerably espeacialy when I am driving a V10 excursion. Being that I am driving this huge vehicle if he doesn't want to meet half way it might even be cheaper to have them shipped. But you made another interesting point about him maybe not wanting anybody to come to his house and will only ship them. So I think you helped answer my question. I will wait for him to answer my questions before I commit to anything. I would hate to buy it now and then him insist I pay the shipping.
Edit: Thanks for all your input. I am going to buy these after he answers my questions. It says in his listing he answers all questions very quickly so maybe it won't take hime very long. It also says he does everything possible to make the buyer happy so maybe I will be able pick them up. I can't wait.:D
I hope nobody buys them. -
Monitor 7's are impressive little speakers."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
-
For some reason I haven't been getting my ebay emails. The guy has already answered all my questions. He said those were the original stands and that he got these from the original owner(best friend) and he said that he could confirm that his friend was the orginal owner. He said he would not meet me but that he was only a couple of stop lights off the highway. So I think I am going to go ahead and buy them.:)

Can anyone tell me what the recommended power rating is for these and if they are 4ohm or 8ohm. I am assuming they are rated at around 100-150watts and 4 ohm.
-
I believe they're 6 or 8 ohm(8 according to PolkSDA.com)."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
-
I just bought my first pair of vintage polks for $95.00:D:p:):D
-
I had the 7B for a while, but had to sell them.
They sound fantastic, especially with vintage power. The pair I had didn't have ohm or power ratings on them. I was told probably 6ohm and maybe 150 watts max. The 7c model is 150 watts max and 4 ohms (I have the manual for some of the old Monitors just not the 7b).
Go get them and enjoy! -

Where did you see that. I didn't see any specs for the monitor 7. -

Thanks! It does say 8ohms and recommended power of 50watts. I was way off at 150watts.:( -
I have a pair that I drive with a 270wpc amp, you'll be fine as long as you don't drive them to clipping."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Good job niko! Pretty soon you'll have a whole pile of speakers. Congrats and enjoy.

I am going to run them with my vintage sony receiver I won from doro for a while. Untill I can afford a vintage amp. I'll might try using the sony as a pre when I get a amp and see how that sounds before buying a seperate pre/amp. I don't want to get to carried away. Its only supposed to be a small CHEAP vintage 2 channel rig. No telling where it will go though.:D -

Its already starting to get that way.:D For some reason I just can't get rid of any of the speakers I buy. And they just keep pileing up. -
I have been talking with the guy ever since I paid for them. Turns out he got a TON of vintage gear and new gear. I might even get a turntable for the rig I am building.:D -

Definitely worth following up with him. He may have some nice stuff that he would rather just unload to someone he already knows than putting on ebay. If you can afford it, pick up more of it regardless if you need it since you could probably re-sell any stuff you don't need for a profit. The price for the Polks with stands was very good btw.
Call him for what he has and if you are not familiar with the equipment then ask if it is worth grabbing from the folks here. -

I ask about the turntables and he sent me all kinds of models. some I didn't know and some did. The ones I never heard of before where a bic 960 and numark brand. He says he has dozens of turntables along with a ton of other stuff. I am afraid it might be too long of a list to get from hims but I will ask. I had already planned on taking some extra money just incase.
