Has anybody seen these?

I was in my local Ultimate Electronics the other day and saw them breifly in a dark display room.

I didnt listen to them with any music but they sounded good with a movie playing.

They are a very good looking speaker, but that is all I know...

I am not a fan of Monster Cable but i was very suprised at the MSRP listed on the site.

I didn't even know they made speakers. I don't know what they mean by THX Select certified? Sounds suspiciously like marketing language, IMHO.

I saw some at Fry's when I went to try to grab a pair of LSi15s. They looked like really big B&W speakers with those yellow/gold drivers. Looked decent, but didn't listen to any.

I went to the Frys store in Plano Texas and auditioned the Monster Speakers they had on display. I brought along several CD's to test the speakers range and clarity. I first had them play Alanis Morisette "Uninvited" song. Additionally I had them play Nora Jones "Little Room." The vocal reproduction were not jaw dropping in performance. The mids and the lows were boxy sounding and had a cheap booming sound, meaning poorly built enclosure with resonance. I was not able to clearly identify the highs for diffent instruments in the Uninvited song. Then again, the hookup they had at the Frys store was not in an ideal setting for the mid and lows. I listened to the rtia9 line in the same room. Just for comparison, the rtia9, had much better clarity in the vocals and instrumental parts. The bass of the rtia9 were nothing like the monsters, much more precise, but adding a seperate sub would outmatch the monsters for down low frequencies.

That's it! I still have your address. Have you seen the "Internet is Serious Business" thread?

I have to find a pair of Gallo 3.1s to do a head to head. I will eat my ribbon tweeters if the Adagios don't win overall.

I was at Fry's, saw them, and asked for a demo. The sales guy said the he'd love to, but both of the demo speakers had started to sound really bad and hollow, and this wasn't the first pair that had a problem. With the way most people on this forum look at monster cables, I would carry the same opinion to their other products: Not bad over all, just very overpriced for what you get.

I hear they go nicely with some Farva Beans....:) I would love to do a head to head. I am sure both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I think yours might be prettier with their shirts off. And I'm not going to lie, I like the big woofers.

. . . Monster Speakers are crap. Buy RTi or Lsi from Polk if you want some real cinema sound.

I think the Gallos would be superior in the imaging dept and speed (mechanical crossovers), while I think the ADA's would have a more wholesome midrange. I have never heard the ADA's but considered them before the Gallos. I need to find a dealer near me to hear those ADA's.

Made a new thread for this discussion as I may have a good deal on some Gallo 3.0s. I don't want to thread jack.
