My 1974 Gibson BlueRidge Custom needs a new nut. Seems the old one finally wore out. Any suggestions on where to buy a new one? Or... Is there something to fill in the knotches and recut the grooves?

Take it to a Guitar Center or a music shop and let a luthier fix it. No sense in doing anything other than changing the strings yourself, IMO.

I was thinking that, since its such an old peice. I didnt know how easy or difficult it would be to change. I love playing it, such a great full sound. Hard to find a match.Monitor 7b's front

Definitely take it to a luthier. They can check other aspects of the setup and overall condition of the guitar while they're working on it, possibly making it play even better.
Nice guitar!

Humor a side, you reminded me to do something I haven't done in a while.
If you have an acoustic guitar, and a HT receiver.
1) connect the guitar to the CD input (use a y splitter) .
2) set the AVR surround mode to Dolby Pro logic II , or DTS Neo 6
3) sit in the HT ideal position (in front of the center, triangle with the mains blah blah blah)
4) if you're SW is not LFE connected, turn the low pass filter dial all the way up.
5) start playing
6) wipe that stupid smile of your face, people whom you might want sex from later today can see you"If the global crisis continues, by the end of the year Only two Banks will be operational, the Blood Bank and the Sperm Bank. Then these 2 banks will merge and it will be called 'The Bloody **** Bank'" -
waaaaaaaaaaaaa, well i guess there is a work around to everything.
