FXI's or RTI's for rear and surround.

Ok, I know that the use of FX's is all about preference. I was just wondering about some personal opinions for use in a 7.1 system.

Would FX's work well for the rears AND the surrounds or would I be better off with some RTI 4's for the rears and FXI 3's for the surrounds? I am still fairly new to the 7.1 setup and can't seem to find many answers to this question by searching.

I had the same delima about the setup. The store had a last pair of FXI (white) for 200 or I could get the RTI4 from one call for ~150 I think.

However, searching through the board. Most people say you wont regret putting 4 FXI for both rear and surrounds. I am tempted to give it a try.

I suppose if I would rather directional speakers in the rear, I could sell a set of the fxi's to a friend for same as purchase price. Or just return them.

i have fxi5's as surrounds and rti6's as the rears and they sound great. not sure how the fxi's in the rears would sound, but i'm pretty sure they would be just as good, if not better, than having rti's in the back.

Thanks for the input. I ordered 2 sets of FXI A4's for a really sweet price. If I get them and prefer a directional speaker in the rear I'll end up selling them or returning them.
