Use 2 TC-265i's as a center channel- crazy idea?

Many thanks for your prior help on my 615i install job for rear and side surrounds. My RTi12's are front L and R, but I haven't bought a new center channel yet. I know the csi5 if a safe bet, but I'm having a crazy idea and thought I'd run it past ya'll. I like the inwalls, but don't think 1 tc-265 would be enough umphh, so what about 2 TC-265i's oriented side by side as my center channel? I'd have 2 tweeters (aimable), 2 midrange, and 2 midwoofers instead of 1 tweeter, 2 midwoofers and 0 midranges in the csi5, plus frequency response down to 30 hz instead of 45 hz for the csi5.

The reason why I'm considering the 265's are to save space in my cabinet, remove the risk of little fingers grabbing the speaker, and because I think I can get 2 TC 265i's for the same price as a csi5. My fry's is getting in 265's by the boatload, and it's just a matter of time before these go on sale. I'm expecting $100 to $150 a piece. Plus I know these also match my mains and surrounds, like the csi5.

I I go this route, I'd definitely create a nice enclosure box (I can get to the back side of this wall) and use a CL3 rated 14/4 cable from the amp to the speakers, running 2 leads to each speaker- not jumpering any wires between speakers. AVR is a Pioneer Elite @110W.

So gentlemen of distinction, is this an it-just-might-work crazy idea or Brittney Spears-take-away-your-children crazy idea?

Not a crazy idea, but a single 265i would certainly fit the bill nicely. I worry going with two that you get more 'ooomph', but loose out in the imaging department.

If you see them go for $150/each, get me a pair.

I agree that one 265 will give you good results, especially with an enclosure box. Keep in mind that they are not sheilded if that matters with your application. $350/pair is as low as I have seen them on e-bay. I paid more than that for mine. I will say that I am very happy with them for left-right mains in my living room. They are not comparable in the low-end to my LS-90s, or your RTi12s, but for the application they can't be beat.

    Single will do just fine.
