Harmony 880

Any Harmony owners out there? I'm thinking of purchasing one at some point down the line, but had a question. Let's say I have an activity button set to Watch TV. When I press it, my TV turns on, my cable box turns on, and my receiver turns on. Everything great so far. What if I then want to watch a DVD, so I click the activity button I setup for Watch DVD. Is it going to send the power button signal again, turning my TV, receiver and cable box off, but turning my DVD player on? Or does it know that I never turned everything off and automatically just turn off the cable box, change the input selection on the receiver instead of turning it off, and powering on the DVD player? Hope this isn't too confusing. Thanks for any help!

Think I found my answer. Should have looked harder in the first place!

I have owned one for @10 months now. It is very convenient and we like it. Ergonomically, it stinks (at least for us). However, more pluses to it. I got mine from Dell; most of the time, you can save >$50 buying it on-line vs. local.

Best Buy has them for $150 right now. That seems like a good price.

Santa gave me a 659 and I really like it.Currently I have 2 activities set up.When I press watch TV it turns on the satelite reciever,pre/pro and the TV to the correct input. If I press watch movie while watching satelite it changes the input on the TV and pre/pro turns on the DVD player and turns off the sat dish.

Just out of curiousity, didn't a universal remote come with your avr? My NAD T773 comes with a superb universal. It controls 8 devices, has macro settings that with a push of a button turns on the entire system or how ever you program it.

I've looked at the Harmony remotes but it seems like an expensive lateral move for me. But if you don't already have a good universal remote, the Harmony remotes sure look great.

Buy one. My setup is complex as hell - a 720p projector and 43" RPTV, both running off a component matrix switcher so I can use the RPTV for regular viewing and the projector for games/movies. Snagged an 880 for $150 and with a minimal amount of tweaking, it handles every device perfectly.
    Equipment list:
    Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
    Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
    Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
    DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
    Epson 8500UB 1080p projector
Elite Screens Sable 120" CineWhite screen

I always liked this remote, and have been tempted to buy it many times, but my Marantz came will a touch screen LCD remote that is computer programmable, so I can't justify it.

I've got a Sony STR-DG1000, but I'm not really too fond of its remote. I use it for setting up/tweaking settings on the receiver, but that's about it.

I've had the 880 a year. It generally does the job, but for some reason it doesn't always switch my TV from HDMI to DVD cleanly during operation. I'll have to use the Help function and go through the questions until it correctly sets everything up. I'm pretty sure it's not interfacing with my Mits DLP as advertised. This is no big deal for me, a bummer for the wife. I'll have to update mine today to add the BD player I just picked up.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
