RTA 12B "Scatter-wound" Crossover coils?

Hello all, I am curious about the crossovers in a pair of RTA 12B that I have. They appear to be hand-wound. Did Polk hand wind their coils? Maybe these were Re-winds by a previous owner. The speakers sound absolutely fantastic, so I'm not complaining, just curious --- here are some pics:

those are original coil winds from Polk.... on the back of your SL1000 tweeter it will have a date of manufacture.. or pretty close to it. if you are curious about the age of your RTA12'sPolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Thanx!
---yep and all info on the back of the tweeters is hand written as well. I am extremely impressed with the workmanship that went into these speakers... And the presence of the sound that they put out is as good as the Magneplanars I have been using ---- The Maggies, though are really tricky to place for a listening "sweet spot" ---- I've already found several good spots for these Polks ---- Wow and DOUBLE WOW!!!...i'm a picker, i'm a grinner, i'm a lover, and i'm a sinner; I play my music in the Sun... -
If you can solder in the least change your caps for the biggest improvement.
Enjoy

If you have any recommendations for particular types of caps, your input will be more than welcome. Thanx again, Ben...i'm a picker, i'm a grinner, i'm a lover, and i'm a sinner; I play my music in the Sun... -
Here is the wiring diagram

(Yours is the original with the fuses)
I would personally go with Solen's on the large value caps, and sonicaps on the rest. The 27uf caps pretty much just bleed off to ground (the signal does not pass through the big caps, and pass on to a driver/drivers), and are not quite are crucial. Also I would replace the resistors with mills of the same value(uf). The little tiny caps can be omitted(bypass caps) with good results. I would do this before doing the tweeters, if both the tweeters sound the same.
Have fun. Its definitely a worth while upgrade.
