I'd go with something from Onkyo. TX-705 is a good deal for the dollars. I just purchased the TX805 from Amazon.

    Welcome to Club Polk.

Just start doing research, and taking a cd with music you are very familiar with to listen to the different brands that are out there.

Pick something that has all the bells & whistles that you want it to have & make sure it has preamp outputs for future amplification upgrades. And make sure you like how it sounds with a pair of the Polks you have being driven by it.

Pre-outs for all channels is a criteria you should highly consider. After that, look at the brands of Denon, Marantz, Pioneer, Onkyo, Yamaha. Heed the suggestion to listen with your music and to your main speakers if possible. And have fun making your pick!

I'm sure most around here are aware of the HK specials, thought I would post for those who didn't.

I just ordered my son a nice 2-channel receiver for his b-day...half price with full warranty.
